@fluffery why not hosting an IRC server? It's fairly easy. I'm using ergo on my server, and it works just fine.

@getimiskon our list for a bit has been matrix, forgejo, mumble, fedi, searxng, invidious and owncast, and we don’t want to overload the server

@getimiskon depends how heavy something is, I don’t want to absolutely destroy it, if we can get a friend to let us do whatever on their matrix and further, sure why not, but i don’t know how good conduit or dendrite is yet

@fluffery so far I have fedi, forgejo, mumble and a few others and I still have plenty of resources left.

@getimiskon on our server
we have a minecraft server, fedi, mumble, I have forgejo but postgres doesn’t want to register the database, the rest still need to be setup
from what i remember, synapse and searxng are both python

@fluffery I don't use postgres for forgejo. Now that I was checking the resources for my VPS, only 2 GB are being used out of 8 GB of RAM and I run quite a few stuff.

@fluffery I think my server is more minimalist by comparison

@getimiskon would be far less worse if we weren’t running minecraft aswell, it would be more comparable
