@getimiskon in my opinion MAcOS is far better as a portable OS then a desktop os

but the fact im running it rn is a result of dell jank so

@ezio as long as you only do basic stuff, it's fine. If you need anything a bit more unusual than the basics, good luck. By the way, I still have that macOS drive sitting on my office. I may set up hackintosh again on my toaster if I have no use for it.

@mikoto @ezio also tbh even though macos is pretty unixy it also has its own very unique features it inherited from other things, like IPC stuff

@ezio macOS was okay until the security boffins at Apple decided to lock everything down and make gatekeeper mandatory

idk if it's still the case but yeah

at least they still let you run Linux

@Yuki @ezio all of that can still be turned off but unsurprisingly it's like android where drm is increasingly relying on it
even apple does it, disabling SIP deletes the decryption key for ios apps so you lose the ability to run those an applesi macs

@ezio technically it's a great machine, it can run fucking everything I throw on it with very few issues. If only the chassis wasn't dogshit.
By the way, I need to find how I installed Clover. I used to have a script for it, but I lost it when my HDD died. I'm pretty sure there are instructions somewhere, but never bothered to look for those.

@getimiskon clover tends to come as an installable .pkg so you can just do that

tho everybody now says to use opencore so uh akko_derp have fun doing the required reading for that shit

@RisenValkyrie @ezio @Yuki actually fun fact this really only keeps you from installing apps, if you install an ios app and then disable SIP it will still work woozy_baa

@ezio I mean, I have to install the bootloader to be able to boot to the USB drive. I think I used something like efibootmgr, but I forgor the command.

@novenary @ezio @RisenValkyrie yeah I mean, you still can't install apps

200% bullshit

@ezio ok, I just got Clover to work. I had to copy the necessary files to the EFI directory and configure efibootmgr accordingly (tldr my beloved). I had to reboot a couple of times until I realize I have messed up the path somehow, now I have to configure the plist file because clover doesn't recognize my void linux installation. I guess I'll spend the night installing macOS 10.15 again. blobcatgooglyshrug

@ezio by the way, I need to prepare my disk drive as well as a copy for my external USB Wi-Fi adapter because I won't be able to use the network otherwise.
