Update: I’m apparently not.

Sounds like I’m shadow-banned on mastodon.social too.
So there’s that.

So apparently I’m not shadow-banned on mastodon.social … thanks to @babe and @stephanie for checking.
Still, this show limiting/shadow banning thing is a problem. Block people if you want to but don’t gaslight them.
I really need to write something about why having mega instances on the fediverse is a problem that’s longer than a toot.
Probably a good time for a post on the subject given I now have about the same number of people following me here as I did when I closed my Twitter account.
(It took close to eight years to get there.)
@Em0nM4stodon It’s invisible to the limited account unless they create an account on that server and check.
@sirber @getimiskon Well, it’s at least against the goal of decentralisation.
@aral I just double checked. You can go on mastodon.social, and check both accounts (LA's and yours). She's limited, you're not
@Em0nM4stodon @aral @babe I'm trying to remember why we would use Limit on an account (on my old instance). It was quite rare. Sometimes for NSFW accounts that posted a lot, so they wouldn't be in the local timeline, while not deserving a ban. Or an account that was receiving a lot of reports, but still had follows from our instance, so it wouldn't break connections... But yeah, this should not be the preferred moderation action in general.
