I'm still torn whether I should buy a Pixel Tablet for GrapheneOS or just a Linux tablet - like a ThinkPad for whatever.

@kaia Android has a more coherent/accessible app ecosystem IMO, depends on your requirements.

@thatbrickster @kaia is touch screen support better on Linux now? Last time I tried, things were very finicky and inconsistent.

@tomey I'd say it has improved but I don't know for certain. I don't use touch screens outside of my gimped pocket computer (phone).

@kaia the advantage of linux is that it runs x86 apps

but the UI is not thought our for touchscreens

@schappi yeah that's the big issue. I'm looking at ThinkPad Yogas, but what use is the touchscreen without a touch OS

@kaia @schappi tbh a modern GNOME works quite well with just touch and a screen keyboard

@kaia Go with a thinkpad.

@adiz @kaia @mischievoustomato
Except for the soldered ram and crap like that. Spending over 500 bucks for something that is very hard to repair and removed functions like optical disc player is bullshit.

@kaia I feel like it depends mostly on what you plan to do with it. Graphene is an amazing OS but it will almost certainly break lots of apps such as banking and whatnot, I also can't remember if it allows for MicroG installation or not.

GNOME is now designed with the use of touchscreens in mind however, but older Thinkpads are weak by modern standards and GNOME is a shit DE that's barely optimized lmao.

*Personally* I'd get a thinkpad before anything google, to avoid giving them money, but if you can find a google device used and for cheap neither will hurt.
