nextcloud-desktop package in #Debian installs this file :
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/com.nextcloudgmbh.Nextcloud.service
that -probably?- means applications can autostart nextcloud-desktop.
eg. thunderbird autostarts it, firefox, pluma(?!), xdg-desktop-portal-gtk..
what if i don't want to start it automatically?
i would understand nextcloud being a hard dependency for an application to work, but eg. pluma?!!!? why?
(is it just me? )
@getimiskon caja really.
btw, there's an extra caja-nextcloud package, but not installed..
so, why? even if caja is involved, didn't ask for nextcloud integration..
not sure i understand the concept here.. (=tbh, not at all into dbus/polkit stuff... )
#archwiki to the rescue :
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/D-Bus#Override_dbus_service
not tested yet.
debian wiki on d-bus..., unfortunately, nada. :(
---
"D-Bus helps coordinate process lifecycle; it makes it simple and reliable to code a "single instance" application or daemon, and to launch applications and daemons on demand when their services are ***needed***. " ???
(so, archwiki workaround works.)
but surprises tonight...
tried #lxmusic but it wont play any file, because....:
"Error getting object manager client: Failed to call StartServiceByName for com.nextcloudgmbh.Nextcloud: Process com.nextcloudgmbh.Nextcloud exited with status 1
"
wtf?!
then #audacious...
the same +
"segmentation fault audacious" !!!!
wtff?!?! 😡
why should these care if i run #nextcloud #dbus service or not?
(at least, #mpv works.)
