A lot of people are completely misunderstanding the idea of EU intiative StopKillingGames started...

A lot of them call it "proposed law", and a lot think "leaving in playable state" means "running servers forever" for online games...

@untsuki anyone who said about "running servers forever" for online games is missing the point. If they can release some server software, it's fine. If they can't, they can emulate the online functionality with bots that run locally. Why people can't fucking think? neocat_facepalm

@getimiskon Some people actually understand that and say that, hey, maybe backend side of things is a bit too complex (and usually relies on additional paid third-party components) to just release as binaries, and making a game singleplayer is easier said than done.

Both of those arguments are refutable by further arguments about planning and how it's a problem on itself, but that's already a productive discussion, and a most of people disagreeing aren't even on that stage yet, and don't want to research further before voicing their opinion.

@untsuki@udongein.xyz the heart wants to believe that the ones saying it means running servers forever are at least smart enough to be doing that on purpose. like it's a deliberate misinformation campaign

but the mind knows that's not likely
