@hellenicsun yes, there are tons of stuff, and i forgot to mention a few other applications i use. Also i have questions about some of the apps you mentioned, as i have noticed some of them.

@hellenicsun

You can also use Aurora Store (Not sure if that runs on Lineage) - its a googleless Play Store. For instantmessaging - Whatsapp is probably a better alternative than Telegram. If you wanted a YouTube app, you could also use NewPipe

@fedijedi re. Aurora, I can try and see if it works. Does it offer anything more/ better compared to F-Droid?

I do have WhatsApp (.apk via their website) but I use it mostly so that I don't miss important messages from people using nothing else and at this stage, I have set it up in a secondary device mode.

I've heard - but not tried - NewPipe.

@fedijedi i have tried Aurora Store in the past, because i needed a specific application from there (because mobile operators don't fucking know that you can use a web browser on a phone just fine neocat_scream_angry). I remember it had issues some time ago, i don't know if it's working fine again.

@hellenicsun NewPipe is actually nice (except when youtube breaks it, that sucks). I actually added a fork of it on my list, Tubular, that has a few plugins like sponsorblock and youtube dislikes added. It's neat.

@hellenicsun for example, i noticed you listed Catima. i checked it out and i'm curious if would work for places like local super markets and stuff like that. neocat_thinking

@hellenicsun Aurora Store is basically the Google Play store without Google. So you can download apps that you might not find on Fdroid - even opensource apps like Signal, Proton VPN/Mail/Pass, Firefox etc

@fedijedi Firefox you say (write)? That's enough for me. I've been trying to find a good source for their .apk since - for whatever reason - they don't offer it easily via their website or via F-Droid.

@getimiskon it will as long as all you have to do is scan the barcode (like in a gym).

@hellenicsun Why not DivestOS and/or some Firefox-based browser?

@niina not a particular reason at all! Maybe, simply being unaware off? Will a Firefox - based browser sync with Firefox's user data? I'm asking under the impression they wont.

@hellenicsun i usually go buy stuff at a local super market on behalf of my family and they use a card, so i think it would be handy to use it

@hellenicsun You can make them, but the more privacy-focused ones (eg. Mull) definitely don't by default. Also depending on how idealistic you are, you might consider Molly-FOSS for Signal. Molly does have some extra features too but IMHO it's mostly the FOSS-idealism.

@niina just installed Molly-FOSS. Looks quite better than Signal. Thank you for the suggestion.

@hellenicsun Oh! And if you need Play apps, you can use Aurora Store in Shelter work profile; if they don't need GAPPS to work that's a good way to isolate them.

@fedijedi well, Aurora installed and works just fine. Also, it did update successfully a few apps that I had independently installed. Thank you.
