Urm, tried booting my laptop back up and it’s broken again…
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
What the fuck am I doing wrong? I only installed it today. For fuck’s sake, guess I’ll give Arch a try, maybe I’ll be able to not break it.
All the configs that I did today though, and my writing for one of my draft blosts hasn’t been pushed to git yet. That’s why I was booting in now. :( FML.
@getimiskon alright. It installed alright though and I haven’t had an issue before. Maybe something I installed is messing with Grub.
This laptop has only run Linux, well it ran Windows once but since I switched it to Linux the drive is wiped and has been just a single distro install.
@getimiskon The ISO I have flashed doesn’t have a live environment but has a rescue mode so I’m trying that, else I’ll have to flash a nee ISO to my USB.
@getimiskon I think that it is completely fucked as in rescue mode, it doesn’t even want to recognise the drive, it gives 3 drive names, I have 1, and when I go into the one it is, run the force GRUB install, it fails with no helpful error message, just says “This is a fatal error”.
Arch it is, I guess.
14 days on a distro isn’t bad is it?
@orbitalmartian hmm that's weird, first reboot? did you configure your grub weirdly?
@sotolf Didn’t touch it… I installed this morning, it rebooted fine after the install, I then just went about my day as I would, installed things here and there, touch app configs, nothing todo with Grub.
@getimiskon Debian… the most stable there is but I managed to break something.
