the thing is, and inch and a foot are somewhat easy to judge by eye, so when someone tells you something is that many inches or this many feet, it's somewhat easy to imagine how long that exactly is.

@fristi Foot, I get the logic since you can look at your own (or someine elses) feet to visualize, but what makes an inch easier to visualize than a centimeter?

@snep an inch is the width of a thumb (more or less). That's why it is alternatively known as a thumb.
