this is the new "Outlook" that Microsoft forces on users that require an Outlook account because they e.g. own stuff via the Microsoft store. I opened it for the first time and clicked on the first mail, since I was confused with whom I had shared this dummy mail address.

Outlook OPENED A LINK IN A BROWSER WINDOW DIRECTLY. IT STARTED THE BROWSER AND OPENED THE AD LINK. THIS SCARED ME SO MUCH! before I noticed it said (Ad) floofWoozy_256

fuck microsoft btw

@kaia i fucking hate outlook, it's the worst email service in existence.
But i'll be honest, i haven't noticed that kind of shit on my windows installation (i use LTSC, it's the least annoying version).

You could mistake this as cable television but it's far worse.

@mangeurdenuage@shitposter.world @kaia@brotka.st honestly outlook (the ms store app) itself is the replacement for mail and is free.

the ms office outlook you pay for has no ads (i have to use it at work)

@kura @kaia Why would you still use this proprietary software instead of thunderbird ?

@kaia
Ha-ha-ha — it's the same in the mobile app: top message is always an ad and it's labelled accordingly. You can delete this message to prevent clicking on it accidentally — but yeah, it's somewhat annoying.

@mangeurdenuage @kura
it's the outlook account that is connected with your Windows install. not sure whether they offer IMAP. probably, but nothing's won tbh.

@mangeurdenuage@shitposter.world @kaia@brotka.st

for me (our company):
- thunderbird does not speak native exchange protocol.
- many integrations in the sales department are not available on thunderbird
- email signature is centrally managed, there is probably something for thunderbird too, but yeah
- company uses office 365 and azure ad already

I got a license for something that uses DRM via MS store. I'm not sure I want to share what license. it might help identify which uni.
