Windows IoT Enterprise 11, kept trying to reinstall Microsoft Edge, once a month, with every Windows Update.

The folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft

It was basically Microsoft Edge, Edge Update, and Edge Web View, and I wanted none of it. I had gotten into the habit of deleting the folder and using a registry cleaning to clean up loose ends.

Finally got tired of fighting Microsoft nonsense, and decided, if I was going to have Microsoft Edge on the system, I may as well install the Canary edition. May as well have the bleeding edge copy.

@Linux_Is_Best yeah, that's nonsense, so i completely removed the OS from my system. Also considering removing the hackintosh setup that replaced it with some BSD variant. Maybe OpenBSD, i dunno. Proprietary OSes suck balls now.

I am a Linux user. But I do keep a copy of Windows for some older games that do not like virtual machines or wine. The classic, Black & White, game for example.

@Linux_Is_Best i see. i use Linux as my daily driver as well, and i get why people would run Windows for a few specific applications (that's why i reinstalled windows on my machine after a long time ago). But the thing is that it keeps getting in my way all the time and it's so annoying, it doesn't worth keeping it on my drive. Unfortunately, that's the case with lots of OSes, especially proprietary ones, and it only gets worse.

I like Linux. But I dislike the old school GNU mindset. We live in a world where non-free was chosen by the world. And by that I mean, people could have chosen not to use, DRM content and not buy into that nonsense, but they didn't. They voted with their wallets and with every install.

I do not mind paid software or closed software, so long as it is good software. Anymore than I mind shareware, trail ware, and of course, free software. Again, so long as it is good software.

Linux is my daily driver, but I can never use BSD before they're too much into that GNU mindset, and it would not even like my hardware, much less let me get any work done.

@Linux_Is_Best i'm not heavily into the mindset of GNU, but they have a point. But the reality is pretty much what you said. The people chose that, although i'm nkt sure if they were aware of any alternative in the first place.

As for paid/proprietary software, as long as the software is good for my needs, i would use it.

As for BSDs, they have a different mindset than GNU. And yes, i'm aware of the hardware issues (that honestly sucks). To be fair, i can try a BSD system because i know it runs on my hardware with very few issues (also with a few workarounds), considering i have tried running both macOS and FreeBSD-based systems on the same machine. There is no one-fits-all system, no matter how some people try.
