Conversation

Some french tourists came to my very non tourist work place and started talking in french to me.
I tell them in very broken french than I don’t speak french.
At that point what do you do? A normal person would pull out a phone and try to translate so that you can ask for help in a language the other person understands.
But they didn’t. They just got visibly annoyed and kept talking to me in french.
Now, I COULD have done the phone thing myself because maybe they didn’t think about it but the reaction they had really didn’t make me want to help them. I just shrugged until they finally decided to translate to my language.
Goddamn such entitlement.

@raccoon it's funny that some people go to another country where the people there don't speak the same language as them, yet they expect and even demand to talk to their language.
Yeah... it's one of the pains of living in a southern european country.

@getimiskon Right? At least try english, or at least learn some very basic phrases in the local language like “where is the shitter?”

@getimiskon @raccoon @olmitch You can say ζοκινγ like joking or like choking,. For ψάρι (sair) its sounds your saying sorry.

@dcc yeah, "τζόκινγκ" (jogging) sounds more like "joking", I know. For "ψάρι", it's "psari", the "p" is pronounced. Also we tend to have issues pronouncing the "sh" sound. For example, "shit" with a greek accent sounds like "sit", as we don't have the "sh" sound.
