The Fediverse grew by 4.5 million users in the last month alone. We don’t need Threads to grow, defederate Facebook before corporations take over this portion of the web too! #FediPact

@Erik defederate corps just because they’re corps? i mean, i loath facebook, but beating them by being better would be nice.

@Erik totally defederate them when some installations policies are violated. which i absolutely expect to happen…

expects violations to happen

doesn’t defederate

I mean, come on… Is Facebook the company with the best track record on user privacy, media manipulation, dealing with misinformation and far right extremism or what?

Also commercialization of the fedi kinda bad :/

Like, I’m not against corporations owning Fedi instances or having Fedi accounts. Look at @team, they do it RIGHT!

But they are not Facebook. Give Facebook an inch, they’ll take a mile.

I mean, look at these examples of far right extremists from PragerU, LibsOfTikTok, Moms4Liberty, etc. already being allowed on threads:

I am with ya, but Facebook is Facebook, and will always be Facebook.

@Erik I'm not against corporations who have Fedi instances/accounts. But I don't want to interact with those.

We will be able to beat capitalism everywhere, but one step is the liberalization of public communication and putting an end to discourse being directed and warped by the profit motive ✊

@Erik yeah, I don't like them. Same as with every corporate instance. So I block them. blobcatdevilsmile

@Erik there are actually a bunch of corporate instances I block for various reasons. For example, meta's instance, flipboard and vivaldi, to name a few. Also mozilla's because I don't like their practices.

We should make a list of all corporate instances to allow users and admins to block them more easily.

@Erik to be honest, I don't think it's a good idea. Sure, every admin has the right to control their instance as they want to, but I think we should be very careful with blocklists, as there's always the case that you might end up in one as well.
