I’m slightly surprised you added the emoji to this instance.
@getimiskon @cinerion
Emacs mfs waiting for their text editor to start
@dushman I don’t think the bloat is an issue considering what it tries to be. You can delete most packages in a base installation and do just fine. They are not (require)d heh.
@cinerion
I mean I need a text editor for editing text not for browsing websites or whatever useless feature emacs includes by default
@dushman If you need just a text editor use ed(1) and throw away the bloat that is vim
@cinerion
I mean vim includes actually useful things out of the box
@getimiskon @cinerion
Seriously though I don’t mind it lol. I just don’t personally like it and won’t use it.
@getimiskon @cinerion
If someone is new to Linux and wants to use a more advanced text editor I tell them to use vim cuz it’s the best imo
@getimiskon @cinerion
More advanced than notepad apps in DEs and such
@getimiskon @cinerion
I don’t have nano installed anywhere lol
@getimiskon @dushman They were sane 40 years ago. They are pretty insane now, but i just couldn’t be bothered to change them. It has instead changed me
@dushman @getimiskon Yeah, since 2021. I used vim before that since 2016, iirc.
@olmitch @getimiskon @cinerion
vim is amazing if you actually write code and scripts
@olmitch @getimiskon @cinerion
Definitely doesn’t have the same functionality
@olmitch @getimiskon @cinerion
Not saying it’s bad but it probably has a good chunk of features missing in comparison
@olmitch @getimiskon @cinerion
Also does this even compile outside of haiku?
@olmitch @getimiskon @cinerion
Looks like there is a port for *nix systems
