I'm seeing more and more folks defederate this instance for no apparent reason (and, coincidentally, it's always those that hide the instances they do block).
Should I even bother making a hashtag fediblock post saying "hey envs.net added this instance to their list without ever clarifying why after I asked them"?

@getimiskon Something something I started this instance in mid 2023, added a blockbot (then removed it after a month because seriously I just don't care either way), and made a lighthearted post saying "what if i make a fediblock post that says PLEASE BLOCK ME"
They have since then made a public fediblock post that I would try and dig up but it seems their servers are down (ha), and since then have added this instance to their Tier-0 (IIRC?) blocklist.

"run by a starnix member with the help of someone bad" like that's damning proof that I am inherently evil, but whatever.
I have since reached out to the person in question (seirdy) on a Mastodon alt, unfortunately the post I made is marked as a private mention so you'll have to take my word for it on what actually happened or if it's actually real. I have never received any response whatsoever.

@atlas you say "fediblock me" as some kind of joke and getting help from someone with your instance (who may not run an instance we agree with) are reasons for blocking?

As far as I can tell, that's basically it.
On one hand I don't much care; I am unlikely to seriously interact with those instances (plus it's funny to be blocked by masto-art), but on the other it's getting tiring to see more and more instances block this one for no real reason (seriously I am not going out of my way to be miserable for no reason, quote me on that) and I feel rather insulted by the fucking author not owning up to their actions and keeping quiet when I clearly asked them what my demands were. Maybe I just need to email them.

It seems to be because you "announced plans to get fediblocked". They must have thought that you were planning on saying something offensive.

@Hyolobrika @getimiskon apart from maybe jokingly saying "PLEASE BLOCK ME," no. nothing "offensive," at least not intentionally.

it's fun being on this side and not necessarily having to smile at everything, but it's also fun sometimes to just interact with the other side. that's partly why I made this instance, actually.

Yeah, I understand. It's ultimately their choices how they want to run their instances, but there's a reason why I nonetheless advocate people not to mindlessly follow stupid lists made by people they don't even know.
I added myself to fediblock by calling the maintainers nazi gestapo repeatedly and demanding I be added to it, so when people block me assuming that the people who made the list must be good and the people on the list must be bad, they're following the orders of one of the people they think are so bad they must silence the entire instance at the admin level.
You might think I like being blocked based on that action, but in reality it's an action I took because I oppose the whole cliquey system they've created.

I’ve been saying for a while that I’m suspicious of any instance that isn’t blocked by at least 100 other instances. I mean come on it’s not that difficult.
