Hot take: I don't like the lgbtq flag with the triangle on the left.

The whole point of the rainbow flag is to include everything.
Adding the trans, queer and ace colors is like saying
"Our flag is for everyone but its also for trans and ace and queers"
How is everyone not already including that?
The classic rainbow flag is good enough already.
As for the brown bit of the flag... Yeah, I know some will think I'm racist for this (I'm not) but I don't think the rainbow flag should be about anything that is not connected to gender identity or sexual orientation.
The only new addition I can kinda sorta get is the black line because that's supposed to be a respect thing to the queers that died

Same reasons I mentioned in the other post? Or something else?

In the US at least being both black *and* LGBTIQ was the main marginalization position for daring to fight back the pigs in the Stonewall riots.
However I do agree that it makes no sense at all outside of the US specifically

We need an lgbtq flag with a triangle to the left that has the European flag in it, because the US forcing their BS on us is annoying.

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @CAETFOOD@plush.city I'm sorry but I don't agree with this, the rainbow flag has always been a symbol of fight against exclussion and discrimination, and the classic rainbow flag doesn't serve that purpose anymore. It has been addopted by a type of homosexuality thay is extremely capitalistic in nature, trans excluding, and terf including... The intersectional LGTBQI+ flag is what queer people came up with to reject that, to say "that is not me". It's a political statement against a type of homosexuality that has become complacent because of its recent inclussion in society and that is now promoting the same type of right wing ideology that it was supposed to destroy. As queer people, we don't believe the fight is over because we're still getting murdered in the streets because of our sexuality, gender, race and genitals. So we use the intersectional flag to fight for the marginalised communities that still get hatecrimed against in the streets every year. heartPoggers

"It has been addopted by a type of homosexuality thay is extremely capitalistic in nyature, trans excluding, and terf including"
Please explain.
The T in lgbt always stood for trans as far as I'm aware, not terf.
I'm not opposed to change my mind by default but I'm gonna need more explaining here.
To me the idea of changing the flag just looks like a way to create a fracture in a community that should stay united instead.

It's not an aesthetic thing to me, even if adding more and more we're gonna end up with a clusterfuck in the end.

@cody that's an interesting point

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @CAETFOOD@plush.city The fracture is already there, the intersectional flag is here because of it, not the other way around, I don't consider myself to be the same type of gay as a dude who makes 10 million dollars by enslabing kids in Taiwan to make clothing for his brand, lives in a mansion, thinks queer people are weirdos and votes a right wing party... They're two completely different and opposing ways to be gay... I, and many others, want to leave no doubt that we have nothing to do with those people...

@cody@catboy.baby @CAETFOOD@plush.city
You're leaving me further confused, what do you mean the type of gay that enslaves kids?
That's not being a type of gay, that's being a capitalistic asshole, I just don't see the connection.
One can be a gross, rich capitalistic greedy fuck regardless of gender, skin color, sexual orientation and whatnot.

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @CAETFOOD@plush.city Yes, exactly, that's why the classic LGTB flag does not represent us, the classic flag includes all those types of people, whilst the Intersectional flag has some ground values associated with it.

Please Cody help me understand tho :(
How does it include that and this new one wouldn't?
In which way is the old one anti trans?
In which way is the old one terfy?
In which way is the old one associated with capitalism?

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @CAETFOOD@plush.city It's not anti trans, it's not terfy and it's not associated with capitalism. I'm not saying it is, what I'm saying is it isn't NOT any of those either... You can think of it like this, the old one is representing ALL gays, left, right, terfy and not, capitalist or anti capitalist, progressive and conservative, and the other one is representing people who are incusionist, but not excluding, progressive, but not conservative, and so on.

So it's like saying "yes me and that bloke are both gay but fuck that guy because he abuses his workers and he has no place in the community I wanna be part of" ?

@cody@catboy.baby @CAETFOOD@plush.city
Ok thank you Cody, I appreciate that you took time to explain the point instead of "lol you suck fuck you".
I'll move on to the even touchier part, why is skin color an lgbtq thing now?

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @CAETFOOD@plush.city Oh no worries, I know you enough to know you're have no ill intention ^^

It's not necessarily an LGBTQ thing, it's more that the new flag is trying to include all minorities and fight all forms of discrimination at the same time as we believe they all stem from the same root we want to fight against. It's not just a gender or sexuality issue, we want to include other types of marginalised communities because we believe the systemic hate we receive stems from the same root, so joining forces is more power to us. The intersectional flag is about fighting against discrimination of all types, transversally, because the issue of discrimination is not an isolated thing against the LGBT community. We're not about ending discrimination against gay people, we're about ending discrimination as a whole.

@cody@catboy.baby @CAETFOOD@plush.city
Does this include mental health too? Because not being neurotypical also can bring people a lot of pain caused by people discriminating.
Like, too often In read very hateful shit about people with BPD.

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @CAETFOOD@plush.city Yes, it does, I don't believe they're part of the flag, as in not one of the colours, but they are definitely included in the community and the people who identify with this flag definitely fight for them as well.

Mhm.
OK I get it. Thank you Cody, you're a good catboy. But you should be inclusive with dogs too though, they're good boys and girls too.
But yeah thanks, you're very sweet.

@raccoon @CAETFOOD Nah fuck dogs, ew.

You do know I’m mostly joking right? I don’t actually hate dogs, I’m just being a dum cat… I do believe they shouldn’t be in the city tho… Poor guys need more space, having dogs in a flat is not very nice… Also some dog owners need to re-think a lot of things…

Ah, I wasn't making an aesthetics comment but... Yes the trans flag colors are the prettiest colors hands down.

@raccoon @CAETFOOD @cody there are bars and clubs where trans people are not welcome that display a rainbow flag

This is the case in the US and in Europe, I know of at least a few places friends have personally told me stories about, trans people are not safe in those places, a rainbow flag on its own doesn’t show a trans person that that is a safe place for them

There are enclaves of generally white cis financially comfortable assimilationist gay and lesbian people, these spaces and organizations proudly use the rainbow flag, but to them it’s “the gay flag” not the lgbtq whatever flag

Some places adopt having both a rainbow flag and in addition another big trans flag, that is a solution yes, another is the pride progress flag with the triangle and such

I swear, if I ever see a place where they show a rainbow flag and don't let trans folks in I'm gonna lose my shit

@raccoon@hollow.raccoon.quest @Clover@akko.wtf @CAETFOOD@plush.city It's not necessarily that they won't let you in but you might get weird looks and they may be unwelcoming towards you...

@raccoon I don't get the idea of including specific types only if their color is in the flag. At that point, an infinite symbol would be better, wouldn't it? It wouldn't exclude anyone.
I could be seeing things the wrong way.

@raccoon I think the point stands, still. Perhaps another symbol representing limitlessness. As it is, it's more about including few more than excluding no one, as I perceive it.
