Microsoft to introduce an ever-present AI agent to Windows. This is announced 1 week after it was discovered that Microsoft scanned e-mails to look for encrypted zip file passwords, which it then used to scan the content of said zip files. If you are still on Windows or macOS by choice in the year 2023, you deserve what you're getting.
@CKsTechNews time to push for my own #Linux machine at work...
@CKsTechNews Also, if you send an encrypted ZIP file in email, and you also send the PASSWORD in email to the same account, then you deserve what you are getting.
I think there is malware out there that sends its payload in an encrypted ZIP, and then sends the victim a password. That creates a sense of security and tricks people into clicking. It also bypasses most filters.
Don't get me started on people checking SSH private keys into Jira tickets or Git repos.
@CKsTechNews PSA: If setting up Windows 11 and it tries to force a Microsoft account:
On the “Oops, you've lost internet connection” or “Let's connect you to a network” page, use the Shift + F10 keyboard shortcut. In Command Prompt, type the OOBE\BYPASSNRO command to bypass network requirements on Windows 11 and press Enter.
As for this AI, Bing-GPT is pretty good, but is it possible to deny it access to my files? If not then yes Windows is unusable.
@CKsTechNews I'd drop the victim-blaming -- most of the population doesn't have the technical expertise to understand the issue -- but otherwise, agreed. Even some of the Linux distros get a bit creepy sometimes.
@CKsTechNews
Good thing that I'm on Linux, that my /home is on an encrypted ext4 partition and that I only need to use Windows for a few applications...
