@irisnk that's what Poettering has been doing for quite some time, taking inspiration from Apple's system software and making Linux-only knock-off. He did the same thing on PulseAudio (which is copied from CoreAudio, a way more superior audio system).

@raccoon well, I had text posts in mind in that reply, but about pictures, it really depends on the picture, I guess. Sure, we should keep in mind that some people might have phobias, but unless it's a fairly common one, people might not CW a picture. Sometimes it seems like a hit or miss situation.

@raccoon Exactly. In my opinion, if you don't like what's being written in a post, don't read it. If you see a bunch of posts about something you don't want to see, you can hide them. That's how it works.

@raccoon yeah, it happens. Sometimes when I add alt text to a file, it can get a bit too verbose. Also for audio, I don't think alt text is supposed to be a place to write a track's lyrics.

@raccoon I think content warnings have their reason to exist for a bunch of stuff, like NSFW posts, some political discussions etc. But in some cases it goes too far. For example, adding a CW for mundane things like food just don't make sense. Hell, even eye contact CWs don't make sense to me as a neurodivergent person who has issues with that.
Also that reminds me of the push to add alt text to everything. Sure, for public stuff it's generally a good thing if you can do it, but not everyone wants to do it, or even can do it. Also you might NOT want to add alt text on some file. Nobody should force someone to do stuff like that.

@afouxenidis προσωπικά μπορεί να μην έχω σχέση με το άθλημα, αλλά γενικά η ηλιθιότητα στις απαντήσεις είναι απίστευτή. Α, και είμαι σίγουρος ότι θα έλεγαν και για τον Γιάννη αν το ήθελαν, ικανούς τους έχω. Ο σεξισμός και ο ρατσισμός στην ελληνική κοινωνία είναι βαθιά ριζωμένος, σε βαθμό που και ένα βαθιά αριστερό/κομμουνιστικό κόμμα να έβγαινε για 2 τετραετίες, πάλι δεν θα έκανε και πολλά.
(Εντάξει, είναι υπερβολικό το post, αλλά νομίζω αυτό που εννοώ να έγινε κατανοητό)

@afouxenidis ναι, αυτό ακριβώς. Τώρα, για την αυτοσυγκράτηση, είναι ίσως επειδή μερικοί από εμάς βλέπουμε το μέσο ως μια απόδραση από την καθημερινή μαυρίλα και προσπαθούμε να το διατηρήσουμε έτσι.

@afouxenidis δε μιλούσα μόνο για το ελληνικό κομμάτι, αν και το φέντι βασικά είναι σαν ομάδες με πολλές παρέες, η κάθε μια στον δικό της χώρο συνήθως αλλά με επικοινωνία με τις άλλες. Με τα "εμπορικά" social media δεν έχω καμία επαφή πλέον, αλλά δε θα διαφωνήσω. Γενικά όλο αυτό το χάος δεν είναι παρά μια μικρογραφία της κοινωνίας μας, και η γενικότερη κατάσταση περιγράφεται με δύο μόνο λέξεις: "τη γαμήσαμε".
