it's so funny that when i post something more serious, nobody cares, but when i reply to someone with a silly pic, everyone is boosting it, hammering my server while doing so.

@keldesoto i actually have the proprietary nvidia drivers on my device. From my experience, it's less painful on laptops with dual GPUs, as you can use the iGPU for your desktop and your dedicated one only in specific applications. But yeah, on Wayland, things aren't that good when it comes to Nvidia drivers yet. I don't want to be negative, that's how it is, unfortunately.

@hellenicsun i usually go buy stuff at a local super market on behalf of my family and they use a card, so i think it would be handy to use it

@hellenicsun for example, i noticed you listed Catima. i checked it out and i'm curious if would work for places like local super markets and stuff like that. neocat_thinking

@hellenicsun NewPipe is actually nice (except when youtube breaks it, that sucks). I actually added a fork of it on my list, Tubular, that has a few plugins like sponsorblock and youtube dislikes added. It's neat.

@fedijedi i have tried Aurora Store in the past, because i needed a specific application from there (because mobile operators don't fucking know that you can use a web browser on a phone just fine neocat_scream_angry). I remember it had issues some time ago, i don't know if it's working fine again.

@hellenicsun yes, there are tons of stuff, and i forgot to mention a few other applications i use. Also i have questions about some of the apps you mentioned, as i have noticed some of them.

OS: LineageOS
App store: F-Droid, with a few extra repos added
Email: K-9 Mail
IM: Conversations, Element, Signal (used for specific stuff)
Browser: Fennec
Navigation: none (i usually use OSM from a web browser)
SN: Husky (Tusky fork with added features specifically for Pleroma/Akkoma)
Online videos: Tubular
Local videos: mpv
Music: Vinyl
RSS: Feeder (although i haven't set it up as i have done on my computer)
Other: Material Files (file manager), Notepad (note taking), KeePassDX (password manager), OpenKeychain (PGP keys management)

i'm not sure if @graphite's boosting made my instance to use more CPU than usual or it's something else. But yeah, it's an issue nontheless.

@keldesoto hmmm... maybe Fedora could work for you, if you prefer that, otherwise something Arch-based if you want to do some customization (you can try EndeavourOS if you don't want to mess with a command line interface).

As for desktop environments, GNOME or KDE Plasma are your choices depending on how much customization you want. GNOME is generally more macOS-esque, while KDE Plasma provides tons of customizability. Or you can install both, if you know what you're doing. Not recommended though.

As for Nvidia drivers, they are a bit of a pain on Wayland, but for basic stuff it's fine. For games and stuff like that, they won't be that great, I think.
